Frequently asked questions

What do you charge for advice and how do I pay?2026-02-25T13:58:16+00:00

For Pensions and Investment advice, we aim to take our fee from your plan directly as this often has tax benefits for you. Our fees however become due once you’ve received the advice report.

Our fees are fair, commensurate and transparent – typically calculated as a percentage of the investments under review. The larger the investments we are reviewing, the smaller the percentage.

What is contingent charging?2026-02-25T13:57:24+00:00

In the market, some advisers only charge if you proceed with a particular course of action following their advice – like transferring a plan. We call this ‘contingent charging’. We feel this creates a conflict of interest for the adviser to recommend a particular course of action to ensure they get paid, which we feel can sometimes lead to bad advice.

We charge for the advice work rather than the specific recommendations and processing of that advice. This means you get the possible advice, each and every time.

What does being an Independent Adviser mean versus being restricted?2026-02-25T13:56:54+00:00

Restricted Advice often means if a product is involved, they recommend a solution from a pool of their own products and services, or from a limited range available. This is more about how the first concludes the best option for you.
Our Independent advisers don’t always require products to perform their work, but if they do – they will have researched the entire market to help deliver the best possible solution. We consider all the options and leave no stone unturned when we deliver advice. Harder work for us, better outcomes for you.

How do I prepare for a discovery call?2026-02-25T13:56:30+00:00

We ask our clients to complete a Financial Questionnaire in advance. This enables the adviser to prepare and deliver a valuable first call for you. This will also help flesh out areas where we can help, add value and ensure the next step is the right step.

How do I start the process of taking advice?2026-02-25T13:56:08+00:00

Book a free discovery call which usually lasts 45 minutes. During that meeting, we will aim to  deliver a financial healthcheck, get an understanding of how we can help you and explain how we work. It is your opportunity to decide if you want to work with us and ask us questions. If you are happy to proceed, we will send you a client agreement to sign that confirms our costs and services in a transparent way.
